We offer Learn-to-Rows for everyone from young teen to senior. You’re never too old to enjoy rowing!

NOVICE ROWING

Learn-to-Row (Level 1)

Why not try rowing on the Kaministiquia River with the Thunder Bay Rowing Club? In 3 consecutive evening sessions (total 7 1/2 hours) you will learn the basics and decide if rowing is the sport for you.  Starting indoors with safety information, tour of the boathouse, introduction to terminology, demonstration of boat carrying commands and instruction of technique on indoor rowing machines, lessons progress to carrying the boat, basic rowing strokes and rowing in unison.

The Learn-to-Row Programs for this summer are:

  • 6:30 - 9:00 pm - Monday May 6, Tuesday May 7, and Wednesday May 8, 2024

  • 6:30 - 9:00 pm - Tuesday May 21, Wednesday May 22, and Thursday May 23, 2024

  • 6:30 - 9:00 pm - Monday June 17, Tuesday June 18, and Wednesday June 19, 2024

  • 6:30 - 9:00 pm - Monday July 22, Tuesday July 23 and Wednesday July 24, 2024

On completion of this course those who want to continue can register to join the Novice Rowing League or, with coach's permission, the Recreational or Competitive Program. Learn More

Novice Rowing League (Level 2)

This is a twice a week program (12 hours over 6 evenings) for novices who have completed the basic Learn-to-Row program. Emphasis is on further skill development and fun.

7:00 - 9:00 pm - Monday & Wednesday - May 27 & 29, June 3 & 5, and June 10 & 12, 2024

7:00 - 9:00 pm - Monday & Wednesday - June 24 & 26, July 3, July 8 & 10 and July 15, 2024

7:00 - 9:00 pm - Monday & Wednesday - July 29 & 31, August 7, August 12 & 14, and August 19, 2024
