Start date: Tuesday, April 29, 2025
Practice sessions: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 5 to 7pm, Sundays 7 to 9 am
Last practice session: June 12, 2025
High School Regatta: June 14, 2025

This program is designed for students in grades 9–12 (current year), with the possibility of accepting others based on interest and available space. It serves as a combined Learn to Row and Novice program, offering a solid introduction to the sport. Based on coach assessments, athletes may be invited to progress into the Novice, Member, or Competitive rowing programs.

Hasan Pathan

High School Rowing Head Coach

Hasan joins Thunder Bay Rowing Club with a strong high school coaching pedigree, having led successful programs at Mount Albert Grammar School and St Michael’s Collegiate. He’s coached youth crews to national medals and worked with elite squads like the Rowing NZ U18 North vs South team. Hasan is passionate about creating inclusive, high-energy environments where young athletes can thrive and grow in the sport.

Learn to Row - Session 1
May 5, 7 & 9, from 6:30-9:00pm

Learn to Row - Session 2
May 12, 14 & 16, from 6:30-9:00pm

This program is open to all ages and skill levels, making it a great starting point for anyone interested in rowing. Space is limited, so if the program fills up, you'll be added to a waiting list. Additional Learn to Row sessions may be offered depending on interest. After completing the program, and based on coach evaluations, participants may be invited to join the Novice, Member, or Competitive rowing programs.
